Bled is renowned for its Alpine lake with the idyllic island, to which you will be carried by muscular boatmen in traditional wooden pletna boats. High above the lake broods the mighty medieval castle which was first mentioned in writing as early as 1004. Bled is also famous for romantic horse-drawn carriage rides and sweet moments spent enjoying the unique Bled cream cakes. Recently, it has been developing as a centre of excellent cuisine, as several of the best Slovenian restaurants call Bled their home.

Last but not least Bled is an excellent starting point for excursions into the countryside and cultural explorations, the surrounding area abounding in sights. We especially recommend a visit to the Vintgar Gorge, the Pokljuka Plateau, historic Radovljica and Lake Bohinj, while you shouldn't miss out on a ride over the Vršič pass into the valley of the emerald Soča river.
